Carbapenemase -producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates from Turkey: first report of P. aeruginosa high-risk clones with VIM-5– and IMP-7–type carbapenemases in a tertiary hospital

چکیده
We investigated the presence of carbapenemases in carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates, which were collected over a 14-month period Turkish hospital, with in-depth molecular characterization carbapenemase-producing isolates. Among 45 study 2 isolates identified as carbapenemase producers by both Carba NP and Carbapenem Inactivation Method tests, only 1 them gave positive result polymerase chain reaction tests for gene (blaVIM). Whole genome sequencing revealed blaVIM-5 an ST308 isolate, while other one expressed IMP-7 ST357 isolate; STs are considered high-risk clones. The multidrug resistant, they harbored resistance determinants, including variant recently described plasmid-encoded fluoroquinolone determinant crpP gene, crpP-2. report first time P. clones carrying VIM-5– IMP-7–type multiple determinants Turkey.

Characterization of VIM and IMP Metallobetalactamases (MBL) in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolated in a Tertiary Care Hospital
The early eighties saw the introduction of a new group of antibiotics known as the carbapenems, which exhibited broader spectrum of activity as compared to cephalosporins. These group of antibiotics were active against Gram negative bacilli including non-fermenters like Pseudomonas producing extended spectrum betalactamases (ESBLs) and AmpC betalactamases (Deshpande et al., 2004; Gladstone et a...
متن کاملSimilar frequencies of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates producing KPC and VIM carbapenemases in diverse genetic clones at tertiary-care hospitals in Medellín, Colombia.
Carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa has become a serious health threat worldwide due to the limited options available for its treatment. Understanding its epidemiology contributes to the control of antibiotic resistance. The aim of this study was to describe the clinical and molecular characteristics of infections caused by carbapenem-resistant P. aeruginosa isolates in five tertiary-ca...
متن کاملEvaluation of Carba NP Method for Rapid Detection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolates Producing Carbapenemase Enzymes
Background and purpose: Recently, increased resistance to carbapenem antibiotics among Pseudomonas aeruginosa has raised concerns. The Carba NP test is used for detection of carbapenemase types. This study aimed at applying Carba NP method for rapid detection of P. aeruginosa isolates producing carbapenemase enzymes. Materials and methods: A total of 97 clinical specimens was collected from pa...

328 May 2015, Vol. 105, No. 5 VIM-2 carbapenemase-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa in a patient from Port Elizabeth, South Africa To the Editor: We report on the emergence of a multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolate in a public hospital in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa (SA), where the lack of antibiotic stewardship may have been a contributing factor. A 76-year...
